SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) has announced that Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Müller, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Board Member, will step down from his position effective September 30, 2024. The decision follows Müller’s public acknowledgment of inappropriate behavior at a recent company event, which has led to his resignation.

Acknowledgment of Misconduct and Apology

In a heartfelt statement, Müller addressed the incident directly, expressing regret and taking full responsibility for his actions. “I want to address an incident at a past company event where my behavior was inappropriate,” Müller said. “I regret being inconsiderate and sincerely apologize to everyone affected. I recognize that my behavior at that moment did not reflect the values we uphold at SAP. I take full responsibility and believe that stepping down is the best course of action for the company. I wish the team continued success.”

Dr. Müller has been a pivotal figure in SAP’s recent advancements, particularly through his role in establishing the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). This platform has become the technical backbone of SAP’s best-of-suite offerings, serving more than 23,000 live customers globally.
