Kolkata Tragedy Postgraduate Doctor Found Dead The body of a female postgraduate trainee doctor was discovered in a seminar hall of a government hospital in north Kolkata on Friday, August 9. Initial investigations revealed that the doctor had been sexually assaulted and murdered. The preliminary postmortem report confirmed the sexual assault before the murder. The victim was found in a semi-nude state with multiple injury marks, and blood was oozing from her eyes, mouth, and private parts.

Mamata Banerjee Calls for Capital Punishment

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has strongly condemned the incident, describing it as both “gruesome and disgusting.” She has demanded the death penalty for the accused and has instructed authorities to expedite the case through a fast-track court. Banerjee has also indicated that her government has no objections to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry if requested.
