Rampath and Bhaktipath Suffer Major Theft In a troubling incident, thieves have stolen a significant number of lights from two major routes leading to Ramlala’s temple in Ayodhya. Approximately 3,800 ‘bamboo lights’ and 36 ‘gobo projector lights’ with a total value exceeding Rs 50 lakh were taken from the Ram Path and Bhakti Path. The theft, which occurred at one of the most prominent and secure locations in Ayodhya, has left both the public and police baffled.
Details of the Theft and Response
According to Shekhar Sharma, a representative of the firms Yash Enterprises and Krishna Automobiles, which were contracted by the Ayodhya Development Authority, the theft was discovered during a routine inspection on May 9. Although the theft occurred between the installation of the lights in March and the discovery in May, the case was only formally reported to the Ram Janmabhoomi police station on August 9. The police are currently investigating the matter.
Recent Developments and Infrastructure
The Ram Path, spanning 12.97 kilometers, was constructed in just 10 months and connects to the newly built Dharma Path, Bhakti Path, and Ramjanmabhoomi Path. This network of roads is adorned with facade lighting, mural paintings, vintage Victorian solar tail lamps, artistically designed arc lamps, and other modern amenities. The infrastructure aims to enhance the visitor experience to Ramlala’s temple.
The theft highlights significant security concerns at this major pilgrimage site and raises questions about the measures in place to protect such valuable installations.
