Anger Erupts in Thane After School Molestation Incident Protests Disrupt Train Services

Thousands Block Railway Tracks, Clash with Police as Demands for Action Intensify  The atmosphere in maharastra,Thane’s Badlapur has reached a boiling point following a disturbing incident involving the molestation of two young girls at a local school. The incident has led to widespread protests, severe disruptions in train services, and violent clashes with the police.

Incident Details and Immediate Reactions

Two girls, aged three and a half, studying in the nursery class at Adarsh Vidyalaya, were molested by a cleaning contractor’s employee, Akshay Shinde. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents and parents. On Tuesday, demonstrators gathered at the school gate, expressing their anger over what they perceive as the school administration’s negligence.

Protests Escalate

The protests rapidly escalated, with thousands of individuals moving from the school to the railway tracks. Protesters, armed with banners and slogans, began blocking train routes, leading to severe disruptions. Mail and express trains originating from Mumbai were rerouted due to the Rail Roko protest. The situation further deteriorated when the police attempted to disperse the crowd, resulting in stone-pelting and clashes. The police were forced to use tear gas to manage the unrest.

Government Response

In response to the crisis, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has taken a strong stance. He announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the incident. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has mandated that the SIT, led by IG Aarti Singh, expedite the investigation. Additionally, the Thane Police Commissioner has been instructed to propose that the case be transferred to a fast-track court to ensure swift justice.

Action Against School and Police

The school management has suspended the principal and the class teacher, and action has been taken against Police Inspector Shubhada Shitole, who has been transferred due to accusations of negligence. A case has been filed under the POCSO Act, and proceedings will be expedited in the fast-track court.

Appeal for Peace

DCP Sudhakar Pathare has urged residents to cooperate with the police investigation. He assured the public that the accused has been arrested and is currently in police custody. Pathare emphasized the importance of maintaining peace to facilitate a thorough and fair investigation.

The situation remains tense as the community awaits further developments and actions regarding the safety of children and accountability for those involved.
