U.S. President Advocates for Caution as Israel Plans Retaliatory Actions Following Missile Strikes
In light of a recent missile barrage from Iran, U.S. President Joe Biden has suggested that Israel consider targeting Iran’s oil fields as part of its response strategy. The Iranian military launched over 180 missiles at Israeli territory, prompting serious discussions regarding Israel’s military options.
Biden stated, “If I were Israeli, I would consider options to attack the enemy country’s oil fields.” He affirmed Israel’s right to defend itself and highlighted that Israeli officials are still evaluating their approach, with no specific strategy publicly announced yet.
Emphasizing the importance of minimizing civilian casualties, Biden noted that the proposed military action aligns with international support, including backing from the United Nations Security Council and various global allies.
As tensions escalate, Israel has already begun striking Hezbollah positions. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that they have destroyed more than 2,000 military sites and eliminated approximately 250 Hezbollah fighters over the past four days.
Simultaneously, U.S. and U.K. forces conducted airstrikes against Houthi rebel bases in Yemen, which are supported by Iran. These coordinated military operations targeted key Houthi installations, including the strategic port city of Hodeida, with U.S. officials confirming the strikes’ success in neutralizing weapons systems.
As the situation develops, the international community remains vigilant, advocating for measures that could lead to a de-escalation of hostilities in the region.
