Gaurav Bhatia Questions Delay in CBI Transfer and Demands Resignation Kolkata BJP Leader Targets Mamata Banerjee Amid Rising Controversy The rape case in West Bengal is intensifying, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launching a staunch attack on the state government. On Wednesday, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia held a press conference, sharply criticizing Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her handling of the situation.
BJP Leader Accuses CM of Trying to Protect Someone
During the press conference, Bhatia claimed that recent media reports suggest Mamata Banerjee is attempting to shield someone involved in the case. “Why was this case not handed over to the CBI immediately?” Bhatia questioned. He highlighted that the first 48 hours following such incidents are crucial for a thorough investigation. According to Bhatia, the delay in transferring the case to the CBI raises serious concerns about impartiality.
Demands for Resignation and Accountability
The BJP has called for Mamata Banerjee’s resignation, citing several issues. Bhatia accused Banerjee of protecting Shahjahan Sheikh, an accused in the Sandeshkhali case, and claimed that the administration tried to obstruct justice by mishandling evidence. Additionally, he criticized the delay in allowing the victim’s family access to their daughter’s body, which led to a loss of faith in the Bengal government. Bhatia also condemned the lack of action against the principal involved, who was reportedly given another posting despite the serious allegations. As the case continues to unfold, the BJP’s demands for accountability and a change in leadership are likely to keep the issue in the spotlight.
