Student Attack Prompts Citywide Unrest

The confrontation occurred around 10:30 AM in the Surajpole police station area. The injured student was immediately taken to MB Hospital, where he remains in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The attacker’s motive remains unclear, and the police have yet to disclose details about the circumstances leading up to the altercation.

Protests and Vandalism Erupt Across the City

In response to the incident, members of Hindu organizations gathered in the Madhuban area, leading to further chaos. Demonstrators vandalized a shopping mall, set fire to several vehicles, and pelted stones at passing cars. The unrest caused significant disruption, with shops and petrol pumps in key areas such as Chetak Circle, Hathipole, Ashwini Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar, and Ghantaghar closing down.

Police Response and Section 144 Imposed

Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal announced the deployment of additional police forces to maintain order. Despite efforts to restore calm, the situation remains tense. Section 144 has been imposed by Collector Arvind Poswal to prevent further disturbances.

Authorities Appeal for Calm

In an effort to control the situation, police have appealed to residents to avoid spreading rumors and to remain peaceful. The accused student has been arrested, and his father is also in custody. The minor student who fled after the attack has been detained.

School Principal Reacts to the Incident

The principal of the school where the attack occurred described the scene as shocking. “We had never seen these students in conflict before. It was a sudden and alarming situation,” the principal said. School staff quickly transported the injured student to the hospital using a scooter.

Police forces continue to monitor tense areas including Hathipole and Bhattiani Chowhatta, ensuring that the situation remains under control. The injured student is receiving ongoing medical treatment as authorities work to address the unrest caused by the incident.
