Coldplay's Epic Return Three Nights of Music in Mumbai!

Coldplay to Rock India Concert Extended to Three Days Amidst High Demand

In an exciting development for fans, British rock band Coldplay will perform in India for three days instead of two. The much-anticipated concert, titled ‘Music of the Spheres,’ will now take place on January 19, 20, and 21, 2025, at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Ticket Sales Cause Major Traffic Surge

The ticket booking process faced significant challenges when it opened on Sunday at noon. The overwhelming demand led to the Book My Show app crashing, with around 1 crore users attempting to secure tickets simultaneously. Initially, the app experienced issues due to 14 lakh users trying to access it at the same time. In response, the platform implemented a queue system, limiting purchases to 4 tickets per user, down from 8, to manage the surge.

Reselling Prices Soar Amidst High Demand

Despite efforts to streamline the booking process, many fans took to social media to express their frustrations over ticket availability. Tickets for the concert are priced between Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000, but reports indicate that resale prices have skyrocketed to between Rs 3 to 10 lakh. Fans have also been warned about fake ticketing websites attempting to exploit the situation.

Coldplay’s Return After Nine Years

This concert marks Coldplay’s return to India after nine years; their last performance was at the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai in 2016, which attracted approximately 80,000 fans. The band, known for hits like ‘Hymn for the Weekend,’ ‘Yellow,’ and ‘Fix You,’ has garnered a massive following in India.

A Legacy of Musical Excellence

Formed in London in 1997, Coldplay has achieved significant acclaim, winning 7 Grammy Awards out of 39 nominations. The band comprises members Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion, and Phil Harvey. With the announcement of their concert series, excitement is building among fans eager to witness their electrifying performances.
