Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was injured in a shooting incident last week, following a night out at a gentlemen’s club in Glendale, Colorado. The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on October 18, when Reynolds and two friends were followed by two vehicles after leaving Shotgun Willies.
According to reports from NBC affiliate KUSA in Denver, police received multiple 911 calls about the shooting. One caller, who was driving, reported being shot, while others indicated that their friends were also victims. Police were able to locate the injured individuals using GPS tracking technology.Reynolds suffered two gunshot wounds one to his arm and another to the back of his head while a second man was shot in the back, and a third individual was injured by shattered glass.Surveillance video from the gentlemen’s club reportedly captured suspect Luis Mendoza watching the group prior to the shooting. Witnesses stated that no issues arose while they were at the club, but once they left, they were followed by multiple vehicles.
Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35, were arrested in connection with the shooting. Both men are facing charges of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Charlesworth reportedly claimed he was merely following the group at a friend’s request and denied any involvement in the shooting.
In a statement, the Broncos confirmed that Reynolds was a victim of the shooting and received treatment for minor injuries. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities,” the team said.Reynolds, 29, was already on a four-week injured reserve list prior to this incident, raising concerns about his recovery and return to the field.
