Previously providing free rice to ration card holders, the government has announced that this will no longer be the case. Instead, ration card holders will now receive a set of nine essential items. Under the updated scheme, the government will distribute the following essential items to eligible ration card holders

– Wheat

– Pulses

– Gram

– Sugar

– Salt

– Mustard Oil

– Flour

– Soybean

– Spices

This move is intended to improve the nutritional quality of the food provided, thereby supporting better health outcomes for the country’s underserved populations.

How to Apply for a Ration Card

For those who do not yet possess a ration card but are eligible, the application process is straightforward:

1. Visit the Local Office: Go to your nearest Food and Supply Department office.

2. Download the Form: Alternatively, download the application form from the official Food Department website.

3. Fill Out the Form: Complete the form with accurate details and attach the required documents.

4. Submit Your Application:Hand in your completed application form and documents to the local rationing office.

5. Verification Process: An officer will verify your details and process your application. Once verification is complete, your ration card will be issued.

This revised approach aims to offer a more balanced and nutritious selection of food items to better support the health and well-being of millions of beneficiaries across the country.
