The game began with a competitive first quarter that ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Spain took the lead in the second quarter with a goal from Marc Miralles in the 18th minute. However, Harmanpreet Singh equalized for India shortly after. The second quarter ended with the score tied 1-1.

 

In the third quarter, India showcased aggressive play. Harmanpreet Singh capitalized on a penalty corner to score again in the 33rd minute, giving India a 2-1 lead. Despite a green card shown to Abhishek, who rejoined the field in the 37th minute, India held their advantage by the end of the third quarter.

 

Throughout the tournament, Team India displayed remarkable performances, including a 3-2 win against New Zealand, a draw with Argentina, and victories over Ireland, Australia, and Great Britain. Although they faced defeat against Belgium and Germany, their resilience shone through in their final match against Spain.

 

Spain’s efforts to equalize in the final quarter were thwarted, with a crucial penalty corner saved by Sreejesh. India’s defense held firm, ensuring their 2-1 victory and securing the bronze medal.
