Crowning Controversy Manshika Prasad Reclaims Miss Universe Fiji Title After Voting Scandal

Miss Universe Fiji Crown Controversy Manshika Prasad Reinstated After Voting Scandal

Initial Winner Manshika Prasad Restored After Dispute Over Fraudulent Voting

In a dramatic turn of events, Manshika Prasad has been reinstated as Miss Universe Fiji after a major scandal erupted involving the competition’s voting process. The 24 year old MBA student, who initially won the title, saw her victory briefly overshadowed by claims of fraud and manipulation.

Prasad, who had been crowned Miss Universe Fiji after a narrow 4-3 decision by a panel of seven judges, was celebrated by the public. However, the following day, the Miss Universe Fiji (MUF) organization announced that serious violations had occurred. Allegations surfaced that the event manager had a financial stake in manipulating the results.

The scandal intensified when it was revealed that Riri Frabiani, a judge representing Lux Projects  the company that had obtained the license to host the Miss Universe Fiji competition had not participated in a scheduled boat trip with the other judges. This omission led to suspicions of biased voting.

The Lux Projects Controversy

Lux Projects, headed by Australian businessman Jamie McIntyre, was implicated in the controversy. Reports indicated that Frabiani’s vote, which was not initially counted, was ultimately decisive. This additional vote was reportedly cast for Nadine Roberts, the runner-up, resulting in a 4-4 tie that tipped the balance in Roberts’ favor.

The situation was further complicated by the revelation that Roberts is married to McIntyre, raising concerns about a conflict of interest and undue influence in the competition.

Resolution and Reinstatement

Following a thorough investigation by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), the claims against Prasad were upheld, and she was restored to her rightful position as Miss Universe Fiji. The MUO and MUF’s review confirmed that the eighth vote had not been legitimate, thereby invalidating Roberts’ claim to the crown.

Manshika Prasad is now set to represent Fiji in the Miss Universe competition in Mexico this November. She expressed her relief and excitement over the reinstatement, while Nadine Roberts, who has yet to adjust her social media profile, continues to claim the title despite the official ruling.

Public and Media Reactions

The case has stirred significant debate across Fiji and beyond, highlighting issues of fairness and transparency in beauty pageants. The controversy has also sparked discussions about the integrity of such competitions and the influence of external factors on their outcomes.

As Prasad prepares for the upcoming international competition, the Miss Universe Fiji pageant and its organizers face scrutiny over their processes and the handling of the recent scandal.
