Kazan, Russia – Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kazan on Tuesday for a two-day visit to attend the BRICS summit scheduled for October 23. This visit marks his second trip to Russia in just three months, underscoring the deep partnership and friendship between the two nations.
Prior to the summit, PM Modi held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During their meeting, Putin humorously remarked, “India and Russia’s relations are so strong that I think you can understand my words even without the help of a translator.” Modi laughed in response, reflecting the warmth of their longstanding relationship.
Putin emphasized the special nature of Indo-Russian ties, stating, “Our relations are getting stronger with time.” In acknowledgment of their robust partnership, PM Modi noted, “This is my second visit to Russia in the last three months,” highlighting the ongoing dialogue between the countries.

During the talks, PM Modi reiterated India’s stance on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, advocating for a peaceful resolution. “India is ready to provide all possible cooperation,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing humanity in addressing global issues. Modi asserted, “We believe that problems should be resolved peacefully, and we fully support the restoration of peace and stability.”
