Nitish Kumar Announces 12 Lakh Government Jobs Ahead of Elections

Nitish Kumar's Bold Move 12 Lakh Government Jobs by Election Time

Bihar CM Ups Job Creation Target, Highlights Employment Achievements In a bold Independence Day announcement, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared that the state will now offer 12 lakh government jobs before the upcoming elections, increasing the previously set goal of 10 lakh. This significant job creation initiative is part of the broader efforts to enhance employment opportunities for the youth in Bihar.

Increased Job Numbers and Progress Report

In his address, CM Kumar emphasized that the new target of 12 lakh government jobs will be achieved in addition to the earlier commitment made in 2020 under the Saat Nischay-2 program. So far, 5 lakh 16 thousand youths have been appointed to government positions, with the appointment process completed for approximately 2 lakh posts.

Kumar also highlighted that the employment goal has been expanded. While the initial plan aimed to provide 10 lakh jobs, he announced that the state will now create 12 lakh government jobs and 34 lakh total employment opportunities by the next elections. Over the past four years, 24 lakh individuals have already been employed across various sectors.

Criticism and Defense

The Chief Minister took a veiled swipe at opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, criticizing those who have recently joined political debates about job creation. Kumar defended his administration’s record, asserting that his government has been consistently working to improve job prospects and employment rates.

Expansion of Self-Help Groups

In addition to the job announcements, Kumar also touched upon the expansion of self-help groups. Originating from a 2006 World Bank loan initiative, the Jeevika program has grown to include 10 lakh 51 thousand self-help groups with 1 crore 31 lakh members. The state is now extending this model to urban areas, aiming to replicate the success of rural self-help groups.

This comprehensive strategy underscores the Bihar government’s commitment to enhancing both employment opportunities and economic self-sufficiency across the state.
