Indian Defence Minister Delivers Key Messages on Global Ethics and Bilateral Relations

Washington, D.C. – Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is currently on a four-day visit to the United States, where he has engaged with the Indian diaspora and is scheduled to meet with U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin in Washington. During his visit, Singh emphasized the values of integrity and unity, drawing upon India’s traditional ethos.

Addressing the Indian community in Washington, Singh highlighted the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which translates to “the world is one family.” He urged the Indian expatriates to work with the utmost honesty and dedication. “You should be dedicated to India, but since you are working here, your commitment to America should also be evident. Only then will the perception of Indians be positive,” Singh remarked.

Singh asserted that deception is not part of the Indian character. “We can be deceived, but we cannot deceive others. This message should reach the world,” he said. He emphasized that India has always championed the message of global unity and has never betrayed others.

The Defence Minister also touched upon the longstanding relationship between India and the United States. He noted that the ties between the two nations are deeply rooted, referencing historical connections such as Christopher Columbus’s quest to discover India, which ultimately led to his arrival in America. “The relations between India and America are no less than destiny,” Singh stated.

Singh reaffirmed India’s commitment to global values and ethical conduct, stressing that India can never stab others in the back. “India has always advocated the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam to the world,” he concluded, reiterating his call for honesty and dedication from Indians working abroad.
