Mont “Flea” Bodine, a cherished member of the SIUE community and longtime employee at the Cougar Store, passed away on October 1 at the age of 58. His legacy as a dedicated worker and talented musician continues to resonate with those who knew him.
Visitation and Memorial Service Details
A visitation will take place at Gent Funeral Home in Alton on Saturday, October 5, at 3 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. Friends, family, and fans are encouraged to attend and celebrate Bodine’s life.
A Musical Journey with Judge Nothing
Bodine’s musical career flourished in the ‘90s as a bassist for the local pop punk band Judge Nothing. The band shared stages with renowned acts like Green Day and Joan Jett, leaving an indelible mark on the music scene. Even after the band’s peak, Bodine continued to play bass guitar, showcasing his enduring passion for music.
Community Involvement and Personal Hobbies
Beyond his musical talents, Bodine was known for his dedication to community service. He actively volunteered with the Sierra Club-Piasa Palisades, promoting environmental stewardship and community engagement. In honor of his contributions, the organization is accepting memorial donations. Additionally, a fund has been established to erect a bench in Memorial Park to commemorate Bodine’s impact on the community.
Bodine also embraced running as a hobby, often participating with his family and dogs, highlighting his love for the outdoors and an active lifestyle.

Euclid Records expressed its sorrow on Instagram, stating that Bodine’s passing is “gutting to all who loved and played with him.” His friends and family remember him not only for his musical talent but also for his kindness and dedication to his community.
