Security Enhancement Due to Lapses in Non-BJP Ruled States
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has been upgraded from Z category to Advance Security Liaison (ASL) security. This significant change follows revelations of security lapses during his visits to states not governed by the BJP.
ASL Security Joins the Ranks of Union Ministers and Top Opposition Leaders
The ASL security upgrade reflects a higher level of protection and is typically reserved for individuals facing heightened threats. It includes rigorous measures such as thorough venue checks, local police consultations, and detailed threat management strategies.
The upgrade decision, finalized two weeks ago, was driven by concerns over threats from extremist Islamist groups and other organizations. Previously, Bhagwat’s Z-plus security, which included Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and additional guards, has been enhanced to ensure his safety. With this upgrade, Bhagwat joins a select group of high-profile individuals receiving ASL security, including Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, and opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Vadra.
