Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to find out Wednesday afternoon whether he will remain in custody without bail. He faces serious charges, including sex trafficking, forced labor, and racketeering.
Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, has appealed the decision made by Judge Robyn Tarnofsky to keep the 54-year-old star detained while he awaits trial. The appeal hearing is scheduled for 3:30 PM ET on Wednesday.
Federal prosecutors claim that Diddy has been involved in a criminal enterprise since 2008, engaging in sex trafficking and other serious offenses. They allege that he has “abused, threatened, and coerced” women to satisfy his desires and protect his image.
In explaining the decision to deny bail, Judge Tarnofsky expressed concerns about the nature of the crimes, which often occur “behind closed doors.” Prosecutors argued that Diddy poses a threat to the community and could obstruct justice. They noted that he has attempted to bribe security staff and intimidate witnesses.
Agnifilo argued for a $50 million bail package, insisting that Diddy is not a flight risk. He pointed out that Diddy returned to New York on September 5 to confront the charges and is in the process of selling his private plane. Agnifilo stated that he has taken control of Diddy’s passport and those of several family members to prevent any flight risk.
The defense emphasized that they have communicated openly with the government about Diddy’s whereabouts during previous trips, including family events.
As the hearing approaches, all eyes are on the court to see if Diddy will be granted bail or remain in custody as the case unfolds.
