Sweet Delight for Ganesh Chaturthi Try This Easy Poha Modak Recipe

Ganesh Chaturthi is a vibrant festival celebrated with enthusiasm across India. At the heart of the festivities are the beloved modak, sweet treats that are said to be Lord Ganesha’s favorite. While there are many variations of modak, this year, why not try something a little different with poha Modak? Here’s a simple and delicious recipe to make these festive treats at home.

Ingredients

– 1 cup poha (thin)

– 1/2 cup jaggery (grated)

– 1/2 cup coconut (grated)

– 2-3 tbsp ghee

– 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

– 2 tbsp dry fruits (finely chopped)

– 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Nuts

Chop almonds and cashews into small pieces.

2. Roast the Nuts

Heat ghee in a pan. Add the chopped almonds and cashews, and roast them for 2-3 minutes until they release a fragrant aroma. Transfer the roasted nuts to a bowl.

3. Fry the Poha

In the same pan, heat ghee and add the poha. Stir continuously until the poha changes color from white to golden. Transfer the poha to a bowl and let it cool.

4. Grind the Poha

Once cooled, place the poha in a grinder and blend it into a fine powder.

5. Boil the Milk

Pour the milk into a pan and bring it to a high flame. When it starts boiling, reduce the flame to medium-high and let it simmer until it reduces to half, stirring every 2 minutes to avoid burning.

6. Sweeten the Milk

Add the jaggery to the reduced milk and stir until it completely dissolves.

7. Combine Ingredients

Add the poha powder and roasted nuts to the pan. Mix thoroughly and cook until the mixture comes together and separates from the sides of the pan.

8. Mold the Modak

Allow the mixture to cool slightly. Grease modak molds with a few drops of ghee, then fill them with the mixture, pressing firmly to shape the Modak. Repeat with the remaining mixture.

9. Serve and Enjoy

Your poha modak are now ready to be enjoyed. Serve them fresh and celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with these delightful sweets!

Try making these poha modak for a unique twist on the traditional festival treat and add a special touch to your Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
