In a heartbreaking incident in southeast London, 15-year-old Daejaun Campbell was fatally stabbed with a zombie knife on Eglinton Road in Woolwich on Sunday evening. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that Jacob Losiewicz, an 18-year-old from Abbey Wood, has been charged with murder in connection with this tragic event.
Daejaun succumbed to his injuries following the attack, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement. Jacob Losiewicz has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today. A second man in his 50s was arrested during the investigation but has since been released without charge.
The family of Daejaun Campbell is receiving support from specially trained officers as they navigate this devastating loss. Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, who oversees policing for the South East Basic Command Unit, has emphasized the commitment of local officers to the ongoing investigation.
Detective Lawry has urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward. “Did you witness anything suspicious in the Eglinton Road area? Were you in the vicinity and see anyone fleeing? Any footage could be crucial,” he stated.
As part of a broader initiative to combat knife crime, a new ban on zombie-style knives and machetes was enacted just two days after the stabbing. This legislative change has garnered support from various campaigners, including actor Idris Elba.
The police encourage community members to approach local officers with any concerns or information. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers.
