Donald Trump on the Green Humor Amidst Threats

Trump’s Golf Banter A Lighthearted Take on a Serious Threat

In a surprising turn of events, Donald Trump addressed the recent assassination attempt against him with humor during an appearance on Gutfeld!, just hours after a rally in Uniondale, Long Island. The former president’s lighthearted comments came in the wake of a serious incident involving a suspected gunman who was apprehended near his Florida golf course.

The incident unfolded on Sunday when 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh allegedly lurked outside Trump’s West Palm Beach golf club for nearly 12 hours, armed with an SKS-type rifle. The plot was thwarted when Secret Service agents spotted the rifle protruding from a bush. In a light-hearted exchange, host Greg Gutfeld quipped, “How’s your golf game?” prompting Trump to respond, “Golf is a very dangerous game.”

Gutfeld further probed Trump on whether he would have used his golf skills to confront the shooter. “If you had known the shooter was there, would you have tried to take him out with your three wood?” Gutfeld asked. Trump teased, “I think so if I knew.” His comments drew laughter from the audience, underscoring the surreal nature of the conversation.

Amid the banter, Trump took a moment to commend the Secret Service for their swift actions. He emphasized their vigilance in detecting the firearm, which was crucial in preventing a potential tragedy. “How many people would see that?” he remarked, highlighting the challenges faced by law enforcement.

A witness, who took note of the suspect’s license plate, played a pivotal role in the unfolding drama. Trump hailed this individual as a “heroine,” expressing astonishment at her courage. “Who would do that? Out of a thousand individuals, would that ever happen?” he asked, recounting his conversation with law enforcement about her actions.

During the interview, Trump reflected on the nature of threats faced by public figures, particularly presidents. He remarked that the job is far more perilous than that of a bull rider or race car driver, citing statistics that suggest around 6-7% of U.S. presidents have been assassinated while in office. “It’s the most dangerous profession there is,” Trump stated, asserting that only “consequential” presidents face such risks.

With this incident marking the second assassination attempt against him in just two months, Trump’s comments reveal the gravity of the situation, albeit framed within his characteristic humor. As he navigates the challenges of his political comeback, the former president continues to draw attention, both for his policies and the dramatic events surrounding his campaign.
