Yogi Adityanath's Government Stops Salaries Employees Get Extra Time to Report Assets

Uttar Pradesh Government Freezes Salaries of 2.5 Lakh Employees Over Asset Disclosure Failure

Employees Granted Extended Deadline After Initial Salary Freeze

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a decisive step by freezing the salaries of around 2.5 lakh employees who failed to disclose their assets by the August 31 deadline. This action follows an order issued by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on August 17, which required all government employees to update their asset information on the Manav Sampada portal.

Departments Cite Busy Schedules for Delays in Asset Reporting

Despite the salary freeze, the government has granted a one-month extension, allowing affected employees until September 30 to submit their asset details. On September 1, the state government processed salaries for approximately six lakh employees, including IAS, IPS, PCS, and PPS officers, but withheld payments for those who did not comply with the asset disclosure requirement.

Education and Police Departments Among Those Most Affected

Reports indicate that only 71 percent of the total 8,46,640 government employees in Uttar Pradesh had met the deadline. The remaining 29 percent, including a large number from the education, textile, military welfare, energy, sports, agriculture, and women welfare departments, are now under scrutiny. The Home Department, which has a significant number of employees among those who missed the deadline, has requested additional time for police personnel, citing recent festivals and recruitment exams as factors hindering timely asset reporting.

Government Maintains Stance on Compliance

Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh had previously stated that no concessions would be granted. The government’s decision to extend the deadline highlights its commitment to ensuring that all employees comply with asset disclosure regulations.
