Virginia Mother’s Mysterious Disappearance: Husband Arrested as Search Intensifies"

Virginia Mother Missing for Over Three Weeks: Husband Arrested in Connection

Manassas Park Police Arrest Husband in Disappearance Case

Mamta Kafle Bhatt, a 28 year-old mother from Virginia who has been missing for over three weeks, has prompted a major investigation. Her husband, Naresh Bhatt, was taken into custody Thursday morning outside their home in handcuffs. An infant, presumably the couple’s one-year-old daughter, was also removed from the residence.

Search and Investigation Updates

According to police, Mamta Kafle Bhatt was last seen on July 27 at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center. She spoke with a friend the following day, and her husband reported her missing on August 5. Despite initial cooperation, Naresh Bhatt’s assistance reportedly ceased, leading investigators to execute multiple search warrants and conduct hundreds of interviews.

Police Chief Mario Lugo confirmed that Naresh Bhatt has been a significant point of interest due to his lack of cooperation. The investigation has included ten search warrants and extensive interviews. On August 15, the case was elevated to an involuntary/critical missing person status due to Kafle Bhatt’s lack of contact with family, friends, and her workplace.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Naresh Bhatt has been charged with concealing a dead body. Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth announced the arrest after additional evidence was obtained. Bhatt is being held without bond and will face arraignment on Friday in Prince William Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Community Response and Support

The disappearance has mobilized the local and Nepalese communities, leading to the formation of a Facebook group dedicated to raising awareness and coordinating search efforts. The Nepali American Community Center in Manassas has been actively communicating with police for updates.

Current Status of the Investigation

As of late Thursday afternoon, investigators continued to process the crime scene, and the search for Mamta Kafle Bhatt remains ongoing. Her daughter has been placed in the care of the Department of Social Services, where she is reported to be safe.

The community remains engaged and concerned, with many expressing frustration over limited updates and restricted access to recent briefings.
