A New Muslim Country Freedom and Tolerance in Tirana

World’s First Muslim Country Announced A Vision for Freedom and Tolerance

In a groundbreaking announcement, a new project aims to establish the world’s first and smallest Muslim country in Tirana, the capital of Albania. Spearheaded by renowned cleric Edmund Brahimaj, also known as Baba Mondi, this ambitious endeavor seeks to create a nation that embodies freedom and tolerance within an Islamic framework.

Drawing inspiration from Vatican City, the proposed Muslim country will cover an area of approximately 27 acres equivalent to five blocks in New York City. This unique project is designed to offer a distinct model of governance based on the Bektashi tradition, a mystical sect of Islam that promotes a liberal interpretation of the faith.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that the new nation will embrace principles that prioritize individual freedoms. In this country, women will enjoy complete freedom regarding their attire and lifestyle choices, and there will be no restrictions on alcohol consumption. This initiative aims to showcase a more tolerant and open version of Islam, reflective of Albania’s diverse cultural heritage.

A Separate Government and Legal System

The proposed country will have its own borders and a separate government, operating under laws that align with the Bektashi tradition. Residents will be issued passports, establishing a clear identity for this new nation. The Bektashi sect, which has historical roots dating back to the 13th century Ottoman Empire, was displaced from Turkey a century ago and has since found its home in Albania

Baba Mondi, the leader of the Bektashi community in Albania, has dedicated his life to promoting a version of Islam that is both tolerant and inclusive. This project is seen as an opportunity to raise global awareness about the positive aspects of Islam and to counter stereotypes that often misrepresent the faith.

As plans for this innovative Muslim country unfold, the world watches with anticipation. The establishment of this nation in Tirana may serve as a beacon of hope, illustrating that it is possible to harmonize faith with personal freedoms and a modern lifestyle. The initiative represents a significant step towards showcasing the diverse expressions of Islam and fostering a spirit of tolerance in an increasingly polarized world.
