The BJP is demanding the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee has called for urgent legislative action.

He has also appealed to the central government to implement a law mandating that rape trials and convictions be completed within 50 days. Abhishek Banerjee highlighted that protests have erupted in medical colleges and hospitals across the country over the past 10 days, demanding justice. He pointed out the alarming statistics of 900 rape incidents reported across India, with 90 occurring daily and one every 15 minutes.
