PM Modi Commits to Maharashtra’s Growth Inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a crowd in Palghar, Maharashtra, expressed deep reverence for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and apologized for the recent incident involving the fall of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue. Modi stated, “I fall at his feet and ask for forgiveness,” underscoring Shivaji Maharaj’s significance not only as a historical king but also as a symbol of inspiration. He highlighted that the nation is drawing from Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy to advance the goals of a developed Maharashtra and a developed India.
Historic Development Projects Unveiled
During his visit, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for several major development projects in Palghar. Among these was the Vadhavan port project, which he described as a significant milestone for Maharashtra and the country. The Vadhavan port, set to become the largest container port in India and among the deepest ports globally, is expected to enhance global trade connectivity and generate local employment opportunities.
Economic Impact and Maritime Significance
Modi emphasized Maharashtra’s strategic location and its rich maritime history. He outlined the port’s potential to capitalize on the state’s resources and historical significance for future economic growth. Additionally, he announced the recent approval of the Dighi port industrial area development, noting that it would symbolize Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s vision for maritime advancement.
Boosting Fish Production and Women’s Participation
The Prime Minister highlighted the substantial increase in fish production, with India now being the second-largest fish-producing country in the world. Fish production has doubled from 8 million tonnes in 2014 to 17 million tonnes today. Modi also praised the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana for its role in enhancing women’s participation in the fishing industry.
