Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh –An intense situation has unfolded in Gangiri town, Aligarh district, following the alleged abduction of a 17-year-old Hindu girl by a Muslim youth. The incident has sparked outrage and protests in the area, as locals and the victim’s family demand immediate action from the authorities.
On September 2, reports emerged that a 17-year-old Hindu girl was allegedly lured away by a Muslim youth, identified as Sahajan, son of Khalil, with the assistance of his friend Azim, son of Ummed Hasan. The girl’s family, alarmed by the disappearance, rushed to the Gangiri police station to file a complaint. They accused the youths of trapping the minor in what they described as a case of ‘love jihad.’
Protests and Police Response
The family’s complaint led to the registration of a case under Sections 137(2) and 87 of the BNSS law against the accused. Despite the filing of the FIR, the police have yet to recover the missing girl, causing growing frustration among the locals and the victim’s family.
In response to the inaction, residents and Hindu organizations organized a sit-in protest outside the police station, blocking local markets and voicing their dissatisfaction with the police’s handling of the case. They are calling for the immediate recovery of the girl and the arrest of the accused individuals.
Official Statement
Charra Varun Kumar Singh, the Area Officer, addressed the concerns, stating that police teams have been formed to locate the missing girl and ensure her safe return. Singh assured the public that necessary legal actions will be taken once the girl is recovered.
The case has intensified tensions in the region, with local sentiments running high over the unfolding events.
